FA Cup

The jury is still out on the Louis Van Gaal era at the moment, partly because his side can’t seem to go on a long run of good results. A couple of decent wins are often followed by a disappointing defeat, so it remains to be seen whether the Dutchman is a managerial superman or just David Moyes with a new and improved scowl.

This week, The Red Devils make the short trip to Deepdale to play a Preston side that is among the play-off places in League One. And while the home team will no doubt show plenty of blood and thunder from the start of this game, you have to fancy the Old Trafford side to win with a little something to spare. I take United to triumph by a couple of goals at least.

There has been a great deal of debate about Manchester United’s front men this season, and their relative lack of goals. Given the fact that they have Radamel Falcao, Angel di Maria, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie at their disposal - for a combined wage of over a million pounds a week, incidentally - you have to wonder why they’re not scoring five goals in every game. Juan Mata has scored more Premier League goals than Falcao or di Maria so far, and he’s hardly Alan Shearer, is he?

Manchester United to win away to Preston North End. Grab them at 1.44.
