Betting Advice - Bookmakers' Top Football Betting Coupons

With football betting now becoming more popular in the High Street and on the internet, bookmakers are introducing a greater range of coupons to entice the customer. Such is the competition between the companies that the need to provide more interesting ways of betting is becoming paramount and the permutations seem to be growing by the week.

However, the traditional 'Long List', 'Sections', 'First Goalscorer' and the more recent match goals predictors remain as popular as ever and still attract thousands of punters on match days. Even so these coupons have evolved over the years to include several new ideas.

Of the High Street paper coupons, Coral for example, have different versions of their traditional Long List and often combine them with sections.

'Weekend Football' covers the main list of English and Scottish games

'Better Odds Football' comprises the English Premier and Championship leagues, the Scottish Premier League and selected European games.

'Weekend Extra' is a traditional long list plus a separate sections list.

Ladbrokes offer similar versions with

'Saturday Football' and equivalent midweek versions contain the traditional lines with specified match betting also available.

'Kammy's Easy Slip' offers permutations on matches divided into several sections.

'Weekend Quickslip' is pure list of English and Scottish games.

William Hill follow a similar pattern with their long lists and sections.

'Champion Gold' offering a combination of long list and section betting.

Betfred do not offer so many options on lists and sections but tend to include quite a few different alternatives within their coupons

'Weekend' has a long list, a sections part and a list of selected matches for nominating at least two where more than three goals will be scored. In each of these lists match odds differ.

'Bonus' consists of a normal list called Seventh Heaven, two sections lists and separate lists for enhanced home and away odds.

Paddy Power have a long list named the 'Whopper Coupon' which covers matches worldwide, and both Stan James and Betvictor have similar long lists which also feature a multitude of permutations.

While there is much competition and new ideas emerging for these coupons, the other area where interest is evolving comes with predicting goals in a match and the High Street bookmakers have produced several versions of similar coupons.

Betfred have introduced both 'Goals Galore and 'Goals Galore Bonus' based on selecting both teams to score, with long and section lists. The bonus coupon offers much better odds and apart from a super six section on the bonus coupon, they only differ in the matches available in the sections.

Of the alternatives, Coral offer two coupons, the 'Goalfest' and 'Goals Goals Goals'. The former has two separate lists with a yes for selected matches to have more than two goals and selecting teams to score more than two goals. The latter is also split into a yes for both teams scoring and similar for goals to be scored in both halves.

William Hill prefer to concentrate on a yes or no for 'Will Both Teams Score', while Ladbroke pursue a similar policy with their 'Goal Rush' coupon.

Another popular coupon available from all bookmakers is the individual match betting comprising first goalscorer, match score and a combination of the two. The combination bet offers very competitive odds but are not always the most profitable. For the recent Manchester derby, William Hill supplied odds of 40-1 for Man City to win 1-0 and Carlos Tevez to be first goalscorer. The same applied to fellow striker Sergio Aguero. Wayne Rooney was similarly priced for a Man Utd win. These bets are normally widely advertised in bookmaker shop windows especially for the local teams.

Yet all of these coupons are not just restricted to the High Street. Most of these coupons are available on the internet often with European and worldwide matches available on the long lists. Bookmakers Stan James, Betvictor and Paddy Power also have their versions, while the latter is also introducing shops in London. The internet versions also offer a much greater variety of permutations, especially in goal scoring, where a player can be nominated to score anytime against a specified result.

It is also worth noting the odds for these popular bets by less famous internet bookmakers such as Bet-at-home, Tipico and Nordic Bet who may offer more favourable odds so as to compete with the larger firms.
